Type + Image

This project was meant to explore the relationship between text and image. I studied ten different type faces along with their characteristics and history. Using the information I learned, I picked an image for each typeface that visually communicated it's aesthetic and history.

The images were converted to grey-scale then made into duo-tones. The final file was made in Adobe XD. Each image displays the the typeface's name in its own typeface in orange, along with it's classification, date created, personality trait, and occupation listed in either black or white. Although the typeface name is meant to stand out, it works within the elements of the image.
Here is a Social Media display of some of the images. My favorite part of this project was learning the history and assigning personalities to the typefaces, it almost made them feel alive with having pasts and aesthetics like that.
This includes all ten images. I especially enjoyed finding arrangements of the type that flowed well with the image itself, it reminded me of puzzle pieces and trying to find the perfect fit.
